May Pattern Review: Girls’ Leggings

Hi and welcome back! Last month we decided to start underneath it all and review PDF Patterns for Children’s Underwear. You can find links to each of those reviews on this post here April Pattern Review: Underwear. We are so grateful for the support that we have received through this project and we hope that our efforts are a benefit to you! We also are very excited to start posting our second set of reviews. This month we have come together to review PDF Patterns for Leggings.

I am Gemia from Phat Quarters and it is my turn to play host for the month. I want to take a minute to share with you a bit about how we go through the process of deciding which patterns to review. Basically we started off by having each person list, on a spreadsheet, all the PDF Legging Patterns that they owned. As we each added to the list new patterns we discovered, we found out that some of us have a serious hoarding problem, and came to realize that there are a lot of PDF Legging Patterns! Slowly we created little groupings based on who owned which patterns. (And some of us might have bought a pattern or two just to join a group we really wanted to try!) After we did this we took in account the time and money that would be required to complete this project and all individually found a comfy number of patterns to review. So as you follow along with us this week you will read reviews of 2-4 patterns from each Board Member participating and we will be reviewing in all 10 patterns.

Last month we received some great feedback from consumers and designers and we have taken those suggestions and comments to heart as we move forward. One thing we would like to point out is that we are humans and we use seam rippers, just like the rest of you. When we do make a mistake please let us know and we will correct it! Also we are using our own means to purchase and create all the garments that we review and so you will see a variety of fabrics and trims used and pattern choices based on these limitations.  Lastly, we all run our own blogs, on which we may or may not post more personal reviews about any pattern that we use here or in our own sewing. These personal reviews are more biased to personal likes and dislikes and so will remain separate from reviews posted here. We also want to make note that we are not comparing one pattern to another. We are simply trying to inform you of all the components included in each pattern. So now that you know a little bit more about us and what we are trying to accomplish, let’s get up close and personal with the PDF Legging Patterns that we are reviewing this month. Hang in there because you are about to see a bunch of information! We kept the files separate this month to see if it makes them more user friendly. Please let us know if you like it this way!

We have also decided that we are going to post our reviews over the next week so that you receive a steady flow of information and not a tidal wave that will wash you away. Please take the time to come back each day, as there will be more and more information that you will not want to miss!

Hi all! I am a wife and a mother of 5. I dusted off my grandmothers sewing machine over 10 years ago and have never looked back. I am a photographer, I love to scrapbook and hike, and I am a daughter of God. I grew up in Southern California where my family still plays in the sun while I now enjoy the lush beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
